GLP-1 medications changed what a weight loss program looks like, and they also produced a lot of places willing to mail you one with very little in between. The difference that matters is not the medication, which is broadly the same wherever you get it. It is what surrounds it. Here is what surrounds it here, step by step, and what each step costs.

What is a GLP-1, in plain language?

GLP-1 medications work with a hormone your body already makes, one involved in appetite and how full you feel after eating. They are prescription medications, which is why a licensed provider has to assess you before any plan starts.

That is the honest short version, and it is deliberately short. What a GLP-1 does in your body specifically, whether it suits your health history, and what to watch for are clinical questions, and the person to answer them is the provider looking at your labs.

What we can tell you plainly is that a prescription medication is not the whole program. The medication is one part of something that also includes labs, monitoring, and someone paying attention month to month.

What happens at the first appointment?

You book the Medical Weight Loss Consultation, which is free. You are greeted by name, you sit down with a licensed medical provider, and you talk through your health history and what you are actually hoping for. Nothing is prescribed at that visit.

The second visit is also free. That is the lab review, where your results come back and your provider reads them to you and explains what they mean. Only then is there a plan to discuss.

Two free visits before you spend anything is deliberate. It means you can find out whether this is right for you, and whether we are right for you, at no cost and with nothing owed at the end of it.

What does the membership cover, and what do I pay on top?

The Focus membership at $79 a month covers your visits, your labs, your dose management, a nutrition guide and a workout plan. Medication is the one thing not included: you pay the pharmacy directly, at pharmacy cost.

We make nothing on the medication and we never mark it up, which is the reason we can talk about your dose without you quietly wondering what is in it for us. Your provider tells you the pharmacy price before you fill anything.

There is a larger membership for women who need hormone care and weight management together, and the current plans and prices are on the medical weight loss page. Ask at your consult which one actually fits, rather than choosing from a list.

How is this different from ordering a GLP-1 online?

The medication is broadly the same. What differs is everything around it: labs drawn and read, a provider who knows your history, a monthly appointment where the plan is adjusted, and a person to call when something does not feel right.

Our actual recommendation, if you are weighing the two, is this. If you want the lowest possible price and you are comfortable managing it yourself, an online service will be cheaper than a supervised program and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

Book with a provider instead if you want your labs looked at, your dose managed by someone who has met you, and a person who notices when your plan needs changing. That supervision is what you are paying the membership for, and it is the whole difference.

How fast should I expect to see a change?

That is set by your body, your health, and the plan you and your provider build, which is why you will get a realistic pace at your consult rather than a number from a website. Honest expectations are part of the program.

We are aware that is not the answer people want, and we would rather give it than a figure we cannot stand behind. Anyone publishing a specific number of pounds by a specific week is describing an average that may have nothing to do with you.

What you can expect from us is that the pace is discussed openly at every monthly visit, and that if it is not going the way either of you hoped, that gets addressed rather than waited out.

Is this a crash diet?

No, and we would steer you away from one. This is supervised medical care built around your labs and your health, aimed at change you can keep at a pace your provider considers healthy for you.

It is also a calm, private conversation about your health with someone who is not going to judge you. You will be greeted with a smile and treated like an adult who knows her own body.

And you can take your time. The consult is free, the plan is written down, and it will be here when you are ready. Plenty of women book the consult first and decide weeks later.
